Flag Retirement

When the U.S. flag becomes worn or faded, it is important to take it down and properly dispose of it. The U.S. flag code states that the when the flag “is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way. There are several ways to respectfully dispose of the American flag without showing disgrace. The most common method is burning the torn or tattered flag in a special ceremony. This can be done privately or in a public ceremony. However, because flags are made from nylon, which releases hazardous gases when it is burned, you may want to investigate other ways of disposing of an old flag. With a little forethought, you can properly and respectfully retire and dispose of your U.S. flags

Camp Conservation

Take Pride in our facilities help us with some year-round projects.

Beaver Day

Beaver Day is designed for Volunteers to help and give back to our camp, so that we can continue the legacy of the Mid-dle Tennessee Council for our Scouters and Families at Boxwell Reservation. Boxwell is in need of all your help to get ready for Summer Camp, Spring Camporees, Cub and Families and more.

We are needing Volunteers of all ages and skills to give their time and knowledge back to Boxwell; to continue to provide a program for our youth and adults, and provide a stage to make everlasting memories in Scouting. Boxwell is still the Premier Scout Camp in the Southern Region and we need to continue that tradition.

Boxwell Work Days

This ADULT workday will begin a series opportunities for adults to come and help Boxwell Reservation be an even better place for all our Scouts. Our first task will involve clearing grass, bushes, low limbs and any other debris along some of our shores. Please bring any tools such as weed trimmers, pruners, rakes, gloves and eye protection. If anyone has a truck and/or trailer to carry brush it would be nice. We are NOT serving lunch so PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. With the help of our Great Volunteers we can make many improvements to Boxwell.
